Child and Family Advocate

Provides on-site child and family advocacy, referrals and support to clients referred to the Wally’s House – Curry Child abuse Intervention Center, serving as a member of the multidisciplinary assessment team.

Essential job requirements

• Receives and processes initial case referral information, creating client electronic and hard charts for all cases • Coordination of community partners with scheduling forensic interviews or medical examinations for patients • Participates in State and regulatory child advocacy or child abuse meetings • Documents victim advocacy interactions, supports, and referrals provided to clients • Coordinates with local pediatricians for Karly’s Law case information and photograph retrieval • Ensures that accurate patient records are maintained and confidentiality policies are met • Completes Crime Victims’ Compensation Applications for all clients receiving forensic interviews at the center • Completes Address Confidentiality Applications and referrals for all clients requiring the service for safety reasons • Distributes, tracks, documents, and organizes all Quality Satisfaction Surveys used for quarterly case statistics to VOCA.

Prevention Specialist | Part-Time (potential to move to full-time)

Works at the community level to support the coordination, implementation, and facilitation of child abuse prevention programs in Curry County.

Essential Responsibilities

Community relations, outreach, coordination, and facilitation related to Wally’s House prevention programs, the Pinwheel Trail to Prevent Child Abuse during National Child Abuse Prevention Month (April), and supporting the Center’s general prevention efforts as needed. ● Community relations and outreach for event coordination and execution. ● Recruit, coordinate, and support local volunteers to serve as trainers for Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children training. ● Increase the capacity of local communities to educate parents and other adults on ways to recognize and prevent child abuse by building community education and local trainer assets. ● Facilitation/instruction of Wally’s House prevention trainings. ● Regular communication and active support with prevention training facilitators and volunteers, when necessary. ● Support planning and implementation of annual Pinwheel Campaign and/or another Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Campaign.
